Into the wild (2007) – 9.0/10

Directed by Sean Penn. One of the finest movie I’ve seen this year. A movie, so profound, so calm but yet with certain turbulence beneath.. Mindblowing soundtrack by Eddie Vedder. Based on the true story of Christopher McCandless who embarked on a journey in search of existence, away from the materialistic world. He leaves home after his graduation, donates all of his savings to Oxfam and leaves all of his belongings behind to live a life of solitude, in quest of himself. He picks up the a new name, Alexander Supertramp.

In 2002, he heads for alaska with only ten pounds of rice, a riffle, camping gear and a few literature books, living in an old abandoned bus carcass, the magic bus. His end, though tragic, is beautiful..

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more.

– Lord Byron
