It relates the story of Piscine – ‘Pi’ Patel, an earnest Indian boy from Pondicherry, who survives almost 9 months after a shipwreck. Cast adrift from the wreck, deep in the Pacific, a Bengal tiger, a female Orang-Utang, a Zebra with a broken leg and Pi, a 16-year old boy made up the crew of a tiny lifeboat. The rest is a bliss of unending imagination, driven by a delightful tale of life…  

Yann Martel delivers storytelling at its best and fathers one of the most astounding pieces of literary fiction I have read so far. He wittingly depicts every scene with minute details and dazzles one with somptuous prose. Martel was awarded the Man Booker Prize for the novel in 2002. To those who enjoy reading, the Life of Pi is a treat!
