L’abbé Pierre (1912 – 2007).

22/01/07. L’abbé Pierre n’est plus. L’Hiver 2007 a eu raison de lui. Cet homme, Henri Grouès de son vrai nom, a été un ardent defenseur des droits de l’homme, et en particulier celui du droit au logement. Ce qui marqua l’histoire fut son appel a “une insurrection de la bonté” sur les ondes de Radio Luxembourg, au moment ou l’hiver 54 bat son plein. Un appel qui allait, par la suite, devenir le symbole de toute une vie.

“Mes amis, au secours… Une femme vient de mourir gelée, cette nuit à trois heures, sur le trottoir du boulevard Sébastopol, serrant sur elle le papier par lequel, avant hier, on l’avait expulsée…”

L’homme, décoré de la Croix de Guerre, de la Medaille de la Resistance et de la Legion d’Honneur, fut un resistant durant la seconde guerre mondiale. Il aida les juifs, pourchassés par les nazis a passer la frontière jusqu’en Suisse. Figure emblématique, il fut respecté des politiques de tout bord. Il fut elu, à plusieurs reprises, personnalité preferée des Francais. Jusqu’à tout recemment, en pleine campagne electorale 2007, rongé par l’age et la maladie, il est descendu dans la rue pour soutenir les pauvres et les sans-abris. Les politiques se proposent meme de nommer une future loi sur le logement social, la loi “Abbé Pierre”.

 Hommage à cet homme ‘juste’.

Hi! Been a while since i last popped in here. Been busy

Courses have resumed today and am back to the old routine again..

But i don’t mind. The hols have been cool. Rich in activities, met new people, discovered nice tunes and watched a few movies that have been on my hit-list for quite some time now. Business was not bad in the last months of 2006. Nothing much to brag about but the turnover was not bad and at least I could pay the bills without reaching for my pockets. Else the company is getting known and it’s nice to hear people say “Ah, Edge? mone tender ca..”. Our latest projets include cabling & networking for a QS company, networking for a printing press, websites and the routine sale of hardware equipment to individual and businesses.

Actually we’re now targeting our other fields of activities, mainly services. Less input & more cash ..lol kiddin’. Lotsa’ time to invest though… We’ve adopted new marketing strategies like commission on sales, discount packages for students, etc.. and we hope these will bear fruit shortly.

Anyway, coming back to the holidays, I’ve have a wicked time. Youvan will confirm that our clubbing stride was pretty cool. Did i tell that Youvan se fait apeler ‘Donovan’ a Grand Baie? non? anyway… After hitting nearly all the clubs in Mauritius (well there are some we definitely did avoid!! ), we can tell for sure that the best club in mu is … Zanzibarrr!!!! (fess, ti dire zot Ngyone kk ek pou reste kk) Avneesh was also here during the hols and we got VIP entry in nearly all clubs. The guy’s become an artist in his own right and we spent nice moments mixing tunes and getting into a totally different world of music. Check his mixes here . We ended our clubbin’ parade with David Guetta’ concert at la Citadelle. The sound was really good for an open-air concert and we had a pretty nice time.

Hello World.

A new blog is born.

Along with this new year, new things are cropping up:) This blog, is to be a platform for friends and I to exchange views about movies, music, books and everything that we share in common. The blogging stride, initiated by Nabil more than a year ago has been quite fruitful, and maybe this blog will add to it, in a different, but ever-positive way.
